The most important step you can take after a transition in your job is to take care of yourself. First and foremost, BREATHE. You will be okay. What is your power source? Is it visiting a friend, or going on a vacation of your dream or maybe it’s volunteering in your community.

A change in your life is the time to breathe and know that tomorrow the sun will rise and you will be okay. Do not rush to enter into your next chapter. Remember your mind has many clouds of confusion. It could be whether you should find another job, or go back to school or start your own business. You must take the time to clear the clouds to make the right decision. Remember to “BREATHE”. You will know when the time is right to move.

When the transition happened to me, I stopped breathing. The clouds were many and dark. My personality is more of one that is stability, structure, processes, planning, logic and the big picture. To feed my needs, I started with a list of things to do. The first item on the list, take care of myself. I visited my best friend in Denver, Colorado. We spent time doing absolutely nothing but enjoying each others conversation and breathing. When I got back, I knew that learning would help me move forward. I began searching for an executive coach program. I was fortunate to have a recommendation from a friend for “Center for Coaching”. The President of the company called me herself to give me some insight into the program. I was impressed that she took the time out of her busy schedule to learn about my desire to become a coach. After talking with her, I started the process of enrolling in the program. The first program was the Professional Coach and then the Master Coach. The program connected me with many other coaches throughout the country. After graduating from the program, I felt that I could continue to carry on my greatest joy of helping others. Transition and Leadership became my focus. Coaching gives me the opportunity to give back to others. I made a vow that I would be there for the next person that went through a job transition. I would help them “BREATHE”.

Since then, I have helped many individuals who have been through a career change. For many, the journey to find yourself is a painful one. However, the joy in finding a new adventure opens the universe to you.

Today, I am continuing to learn new opportunities like writing books and becoming a speaker for large corporation audiences. I continue to look for ways to help others by being involved in my community. I am discovering the many opportunities for learning can continue to inspire and develop others.

So, take care of yourself and “BREATHE”.
